Jim Fernandez
Mr. Fernandez, a seasoned accounting professional with experience in various areas of business, is a partner and audit team leader for Vancouver’s office. He has been in Public Practice for 24 years and in Industry for 10 years. Mr. Fernandez’s expertise includes Auditing and/or consulting for privately owned and Public Listed Companies operating in the Americas, Europe and Africa.
Due to his International business background Mr. Fernandez has a broad understanding on cross-board issues. His knowledge is utilized when assisting corporations and family businesses in expanding their operations overseas by building of offshore structures that bring multiple benefits not available in the clients’ local markets. In addition Mr. Fernandez acts as a board member or steering committee leader for various companies and professional organizations assisting them on their direction and strategic planning.
Mr. Fernandez has an extensive education history; he completed a bachelor’s degree in Food Processing Engineering, a Master’s degree in Business Administration and has obtained designations as Certified General Accountant, Certified Fraud Examiner as well as completing the Chartered Business Valuator educational program.

Young, Julio
Julio Young joined Fernandez Young & Associates in 1993 and is the firm’s Tax Partner. He is also a director of FY International and a member of its International Tax Advisory Group. Prior to joining FYA, he was a Corporate Controller with a prominent real estate development company located in Vancouver, British Columbia. As a partner in Fernandez, Young & Associates, Julio is involved in tax planning in all areas of personal, corporate and estate taxation, in particular, advising on real estate tax issues and establishment of resident and non-resident trusts and offshore corporations for professionals and owner managers with cross border transactions. As a member of the Tax Group of FY International, Julio coordinates and participates in the delivery of services to Latin America and other non-resident clients seeking international tax advice. His fluency in Spanish and Cantonese gives him an advantage in advising non-resident clients on the most effective structures for carrying business in Canada. Julio obtained his CGA designation in 1987, and continues to maintain the highest professional development standards, in particular he is a graduate of the two-year CICA In-Depth Tax Course.

Cabrera, Renan
Renan Cabrera is one of the co-founders of Fernandez Young LLP and is the Business Development Partner in the Firm. Renan is an expert in corporative finances and capitalization of projects. Educated in Canada in finance and business administration, he has 25 years experience evaluating financial transactions, projects requiring capital of investment and refinancing of regional and international operations. This has allowed him to approach investors who require his ability to evaluate, to measure and to assess operations and financial projects. Currently, Renan supports a varied range of projects in the Americas that are financed by investors worldwide. He is well recognized by international banks and investors. His creativity and ability to identify financial solutions and strategies, make important financial operations possible that would not materialized otherwise. Renan, is the VP of Business Development for FY International. His relations with Asian investors have allowed him to participate in attractive operations that require large amounts of capital not commonly obtained in Latin America. In addition, he maintains an extensive network of contacts at international levels.
